There are many different factors to consider when picking the best location for your session. My number one tip is to always pick a spot that is comfortable for you (+ your family or partner). This can be a location that has sentimental meaning for you or a location where your dog can be unbothered being unleashed.

Use this guide to view the different locations in and around SSM with photo examples to help you envision your session.

Exploring along the boardwalk, especially at sunset is unbeatable! Gorgeous scenery, a mix of nature + bridge scenery.

HIAWATHA

RECOMMENDED FOR: SUMMER + FALL

Hiawatha provides many backdrops, from trees, trails and clifts.

KINSMEN PARK

RECOMMENDED FOR: SUMMER + FALL

The most stunning pond and greenery area!

BELLEVUE PARK - EAST

RECOMMENDED FOR: SUMMER + FALL

Great for morning or evening sessions with a ton of shade. Water, tree and floral gardens can all be found here

WHITEFISH ISLAND + THE LOCKS

This spot is perfect for those hot midday shoots. We have lots of tree coverage to stay cool in the shade and an awesome boardwalk view of the bridge! Dogs are welcome on leash at this location!

Locks location does need a photography permit.

WISHART PARK

RECOMMENDED FOR: SUMMER

A forest filled with gorgeous ferns?! This is where magic is made!

HUB TRAIL

RECOMMENDED FOR: FALL + WINTER

Right beside Finn Hill is the perfect little nook in the hub trail for a green backdrop and paved trail for easy access. Dogs are welcome at this location (but be tick aware)!

BATCHAWANA

RECOMMENDED FOR: SUMMER + FALL

A travel fee will be required for this location, but it is worth if for these fall views!

Leashed dogs are welcome and encouraged as this beach is connected to a busy highway.

PANCAKE BAY PROVINCIAL PARK

Let's cruise through the park and get multiple different scenic picture! Please note an entrance and travel fee is required for this location.

MANITOU PARK

A new little spot for me, perfect for a small session with one backdrop wanted. Walk down the trail a few minutes and find the perfect evergreens (hopefully coated in some fresh snow!)

STOKELY CREEK LODGE

RECOMMENDED FOR: SUMMER + FALL

GROS CAP

Right along Lake Superior, the views are endless! Be prepared for wind + rocky terrain. To get the higher views, a 10 minute hike is needed.

BLUFFS

RECOMMENDED FOR: SUMMER + FALL evenings only

Drive up to a scenic view along the coast of lake superior. Alike to the views of gros cap, minus the hike!

ELLIOTS

RECOMMENDED FOR: ALL SEASONS - evenings only

Elliots offers fields of dreams!! Lots of florals, greenery and the perfect sunset backdrop.

FORT CREEK CONSERVATION

RECOMMENDED FOR: ALL SEASONS

This trail is easily accessible from multiple parking spots. We can stay on trail or venture off to see some more secluded views.

WATERFRONT PAVILLION

RECOMMENDED FOR: SUMMER + FALL

Greenery and waterfront views. Be aware that the wind can sweep through here.

THOMPSON FARMS

Location scenery changes depending on the season. ie. pumpkins, cornfield, sunflowers, etc...

Right off the Searchmont highway lays a secluded waterfall. Please note: this is rocky terrain, injury can easily happen at this location.

If you're needing a beach setting more North, Harmony is a great option.
