welcome guide

Thank you so much for booking me to photograph your wedding day!!

Here is a little guide I have put together that can help in the planning process to get the best possible photographs on your day. The two most important things that go into creating beautiful wedding photographs is a great timeline and even better lighting. I will personally help you structure your day as best we can ensure you get to spend as much time with your guests but also in the best lighting scenerios.

our process after booking:

I. 1-2 MONTHS BEFORE

This is when a final timeline is ready to be discussed. You will be emailed an online questionnaire to detail your wedding times and family + contact information. Once completed, your photographer will get back to you with a rough timeline. If your timeline is longer than our originally discussed services, you will be referred back to our quote and recommended additional coverage be added.

II. DAY OF

It's show time! Be relaxed knowing I am there for every part of your day. I will help keep you on time and a great person to check in with if you have any questions. My coverage is flexible, so if additional hours are needed, I will be available!

III. AFTER

24-72 hours after your wedding day your email will have your wedding sneak peek! Then after another quick 10-13 weeks, you'll have your whole gallery completed. Your online gallery will have high resolution downloads, printing options, ways to share with your friends and family as well as your day neatly categorized for easy viewing.

GETTING READY : GROOM PREP : APPROX 30-45 MINUTES

Some grooms prefer not to be photographed at this stage of the day, please feel free to do whatever feels best for you. If your groom chooses coverage, they will be expected to be dressed (aside from extras such as ties, shoes, cuff links, etc..). All groomsmen are expected to be ready without ties on.

PRO TIP: Make sure 2-3 people present know how to tie a tie or bowtie.

GETTING READY : BRIDE PREP : APPROX 1-1.5 HOURS

I like to arrive at the bride’s prep location just as she’s finishing her hair/makeup—that way, we can get a few photographs of the final touches. Once that’s done, we will document any meaningful accessories or items present, so remember to gather everything so that they’re ready for me to photograph when I first start (stationery, jewelry, flowers and any family heirlooms you are incorporating into the day).

THE CEREMONY : APPROX 15-30 MINUTES

What time your ceremony takes place at is ultimately up to you and your officiant's schedule. The closer to the evening the better, in my opinion. If you have an outdoor ceremony in the middle of the day, the light is going to be harsh and you could potentially be standing in direct sunlight. The best solution is visiting your ceremony location at the exact time of your ceremony. This will show you how the light will fall and will help you determine if there will be enough shade for you to stand in.

FAMILY PORTRAITS : 15 -30 MINUTES

Family formals are the hardest photos to coordinate, yet the easiest photos to schedule. Typically these photos are taken right after the ceremony while everyone is present and ready. The time for these photos really varies based on the size of your family and the different family combinations you are wanting.

WEDDING PARTY PORTRAITS : 15 -30 MINUTES

The best part about having a wedding party, is that they're with you all day long! These photos can be the most flexible with timing and can even be split up throughout your wedding day. You can schedule them after getting ready to take some photos with your girls/guys, then this leaves more time after your ceremony to mingle with your guests and gives you one less thing to worry about fitting in before your reception. We can then squeeze in 5 minutes after the ceremony to finish the wedding party photos with everyone.

Having a first look can really determine when you should take your wedding party photos. If you have a first look the wedding party photos will take place BEFORE your ceremony, if you do not have a first look, the wedding party photos will be AFTER family photos following the ceremony.

COUPLE PORTRAITS : 30 MINUTES TO 1 HOUR

Timing depends on how many locations you’d like to visit (around 30 minutes per location is ideal). Consider how much time you’re willing to spend away from your guests—some couples prefer to keep personal portraits to a minimum so they can be with friends and family during post-ceremony cocktail hour. Another popular option is to do the couple portraits prior to the ceremony so you can spend the entire time at cocktail hour with your guests.

THE RECEPTION : 2 TO 6 HOURS

You will start by scheduling your entrance into the reception hall or tent. Afterwards the possibilities are endless with the traditions or games you can add in to this part of your day. I recommend deciding whether you’d like complete reception coverage or would prefer to have me stay just until the dance floor gets moving.

A SIMPLE GUIDE TO:

FAMILY PORTRAITS

Families are unique! If you have a mixed, blended or extra larger family, make sure to rearrange the portraits to suit yours specifically.

Your photographer will get back to you with alternative suggestions if they feel you have too many combinations (trust us, you will be tired of smiling!) We recommend saving all extended family (aunts, uncles, cousins) portraits for your reception. These can be less formal.
